|If people live outside of comfortable walking distance to public transit stops, especially in inclement weather, people prefer to take their personal vehicle, which in turn increases congestion on roads. Also, people with disabilities, elderly, or low income who do not have easy access to an automobile are also affected by the lack of first and last mile transportation.
Robotic Research has been a leader in making autonomous first-last mile transportation a reality with its partners Local Motors and Pratt & Miller. Both Local Motor’s Olli shuttle and Pratt Miller’s shuttle are equipped with Robotic Research’s AutoDriveTM autonomous driving appliqué and nSightTM data collection and analysis suite. These vehicles have operated on both pedestrian walkways, bike paths, as well as public roads with mixed traffic.
