SAARP is focused on developing low-cost platforms for first responders based on a library of common components.
By using this library of common components in combination with 3D printing, it is possible to build a wide variety of platforms that can come from a range of previously un-tapped sources. Several proof-of-concept platforms were developed for this program that included both aerial and ground systems. The platform that has gained the most attention is the TOSR (Throwable Orientation Switching Robot). It is a small, two-wheeled robot that can be thrown into or off of a structure to provide enhanced situational awareness for first responders.
