CLARKSBURG, Md., Oct. 22, 2019 — Robotic Research, LLC, a leading provider of autonomy and robotic technologies to government and commercial customers, helped celebrate the launch of a new autonomous shuttle program led by Curiosity Labs, a city-funded autonomous vehicle research center in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. The autonomous shuttle, Olli, is manufactured by Local Motors and equipped with Robotic Research’s AutoDrive® autonomy kit, which allows the vehicle to think, perceive and navigate in diverse mixed-traffic environments.
Two shuttles will be operating along Technology Parkway, aiding in the daily transportation of Peachtree Corner’s residents and workers.
“Our team is excited to be supporting Local Motors and Curiosity Labs with this important autonomy program that is driving innovation around public transportation in the state of Georgia,” said Alberto Lacaze, president of Robotic Research. “The more locations we support means even more rapid evolution of our autonomy technology, as it continues to learn and improve its understanding and reactions to obstacles and human behavior in public transit situations. Our AutoDrive technology is a core part of Olli’s autonomy functionality, and something we’re leveraging to bring autonomy to other types of vehicles including buses and trucks. We are honored to have this opportunity to play an important role in transforming the future of transportation.”
Using Robotic Research’s AutoDrive® autonomy kits, together with its robotic engineering and artificial intelligence technologies, the company is supporting an array of autonomy programs in commercial and government sectors, operating in communities and cities on four continents. The vehicles that are empowered with Robotic Research autonomy have logged thousands of successful, fully autonomous, operating hours.
Currently, Robotic Research is working closely with its partners at Local Motors to develop Olli 2.0, the next generation of the Olli shuttle, which is expected to be released later this year.
