Many of our robotic systems are equipped with EO/IR cameras, LIDAR, or other sensors in order to extend the reach of the warfighter by providing Situational Awareness in areas where they would not normally be able to traverse. 3D maps are constructed in near real-time from one or more collaborative unmanned systems equipped with LIDAR sensors. The LIDAR models can be textured mapped with camera data to provide greater detail. High-resolution models of terrain, buildings, or urban scenarios are post-processed from camera images using photogrammetry algorithms. Live video feeds from overhead UAS systems can be overlaid on these 3D models to provide context to the warfighter for greater situational awareness. This is used to reduce operator workload and improve system effectiveness.
