VTI
Vetronics Technology Integration

The VTI program ported the autonomous mobility software built under DEMO III to two Stryker platforms (18 Tons, 8 wheeled vehicles). Although this program is fairly young, its first demonstration in Feb 2003 has shown the versatility of the autonomous mobility software. VTI has built a robust set of OCUs to investigate questions of operator workload and human factor related issues. During the experiment at Fort Bliss, TX in Feb 2003 U.S. Army soldiers controlled the robotic vehicle in a combination of autonomous, semi-autonomous, coordinated and mixed live simulated maneuvers designed to the test the limits of the autonomous software.

Robotic Research's involvement in the VTI program concentrates on:

  • The continuation of development of autonomous vehicle software;
  • In the field test organization;
  • Leader / Follower implementation and testing;
  • High speed road following.
