Testing

The Technology Readiness Level of the autonomous robotic ground vehicles was assessed under this program. A government team selected a set of relevant scenarios to test the autonomous systems and determined the technology was at TRL-6 level of readiness.

The different levels of Technology readiness are defined as follows:

The tests were performed by randomly picking starting and ending points within a set of courses in different terrains. The terrains included, arid, MOUT, and forested. 659 mission including 562 Kms were completed. Of which, 91% of the missions were completed, with 95% of the distance completed in autonomous mode. The operators had a strict set of rules that allow them to intervene only under those circumstances. The time used during a operator intervation is labeled as Teleop in the next chart.
