PerceptOR

Perception for Off-road Robotics

The PerceptOR program developed prototype perception systems and generated experimental performance data for use in off-road conditions common to military operations. The base vehicle is a COTS Honda Rubicon, instrumented with autonomous mobility sensors. Four teams were selected by DARPA to compete in different terrains.

These terrains included:

  • Fort AP Hill, VA (forest)
  • Fort Pikel, CA (alpine)
  • Yuma Proving Grounds, AZ (arid)
  • Fort Polk, LA (swamp)

Robotic Research was a member of the General Dynamics Robotic Systems PerceptOR team. The team modified the Demo III software to to operate on the PerceptOR Platform. Robotic Research played a significant role in these field tests.
